In the event of a vacancy occurring in

the office of Commissioner of Public Works in

the Colony of Fiji, I desire to recommend for

this appointment Mr.T.L.Perkins, Executive Engineer

in the Public Works Department of this Colony.

I did not recommend Mr.Perkins for the

post when it was vacated by Mr.Badcock because

I had no opportunity of consulting Mr. Chatham

as to his fitness for the post.

I have now had that opportunity and I

can recommend Mr.Perkins as a thoroughly qualified

and capable engineer of wide experience and

industrious habits.

I enclose printed copy of Mr.Perkins'

testimonials, a statement of work he has been

engaged in under this Government, and a minute

by the Director of Public Works concerning his

qualifications.
